Gaia Conceptions, a handmade eco-chic apparel company founded by clothing designer, Andrea Crouse, has opened NOMAD Boutique, featuring organic clothing made with environmentally friendly dyes. NOMAD: Gaia Conceptions Eco-chic Boutique is located along the Spring Garden to Smith Street section of the proposed Greenway in the Westerwood neighborhood of Greensboro and is currently open Thurs-Sat 11 a.m.-6 p.m. NOMAD Boutique is adjacent to the Gaia Conceptions Studio where all the clothing is handmade by an artisanal team. Gaia Conceptions has planned a Grand Opening Festival on May 18, 2014 from 12-7 pm to celebrate the new NOMAD Boutique.

Gaia Conceptions invites the community to visit the NOMAD Boutique, shop, and learn about sustainable clothing. The Grand Opening Festival on May 18 is free admission, open to all, and will feature local artisans including jewelry makers, potters, organic plant farmers, leather makers, and fiber artists. Gaia Conceptions natural dye and herb garden will be open and will host natural dye demos for community members to participate, learn, and take home a plant-dyed Gaia Conceptions tote bag. Musical performances will run throughout the day featuring a UNCG Jazz Studies trio, local sitar and tabla musicians, and the renowned Greensboro-based female trio Amelias Mechanics. At 1:30 p.m. there will be a ribbon cutting ceremony with neighboring “Shops at Westerwood” Past Perfect Antiques & Interiors and Krohm Salon. Food will be available from local food trucks and drinks available at the Westerwood Tavern, located next door to Gaia Conceptions Studio & NOMAD Boutique.
